We invite all friends and acquaintances to the exhibition of creative works "Breakfast for Pinocchio".
Our exhibition is creative experiments on the theme of still life in different techniques, materials and with different sentiments. This year the exhibition brings together works of our wonderful teachers along with works by wards of the Center!
We "installed" the exhibition yesterday!!!
The whole day we were working on hanging and placement of the works.  Preparation for the exhibition "Breakfast for Pinocchio" took us a lot of time.
We will show you wonders! Corn...watermelon, cheese and sausage!!! And many more miracles!
Vova loves sausages, so they turned out to be as realistic as possible in his execution! But Vanya said that a wooden sausage is a little strange thing...
You can see the diversity of our creativity in A. I. Herzen Library (21 Novgorodskaya street, d. 27)  from the 21st of November to the 31st of December! We are waiting for you!

Today the Catholic Church remembers Saint Elizabeth of Thuringia (Hungaria).
St. Elizabeth is a patron of Caritas throughout the world. She lived a life that was full of mutually exclusive circumstances, short and bright like a flash in the dark.
Today the staff of Caritas St. Petersburg and all our friends will gather in the Monsignor Hartmut Chania House and thank St. Elizabeth for our vocation and the gift of compassion for the poor and the disadvantaged.

Dear colleagues, volunteers, friends and not indifferent readers!
Our Church will celebrate The World Day of the Poor for the first time the 19th of November.
The Father Francisk announced his intention to establish this day to encourage the conscience of the faithful hearing the cry of the poor and the afflicted! The motto of the day: "Love not with words but with deeds."
The voice of the poor calls to all baptized, to the civil community and to all people of goodwill not only for support the disadvantaged, but also for appreciation the human and spiritual dignity of each person below the poverty line.
All this week staff and volunteers of Caritas Saint-Petersburg will work in a usual mode. We will help, feed, accompany, be in solidarity, alleviate the pain, brighten up the loneliness, develop, heal wounds, discover the great dignity of our beneficiaries.
And we invite everyone to take a step closer to the poor, to visit the charity projects of Caritas St. Petersburg and to assist the needy.
We invite you all to join us in prayer for the poor and disadvantaged the 17th of November at 16.00. It will be the day of remembrance of our patron Saint Elizabeth Thuringskaya.  We also invite you to participate in a solemn mass dedicated to The World Day of the Poor the 19th of November at 10.30. (18 Ryabinovaya st., "The House of Monsignor Hartmut Chania" ).

 Yay! We have a vacation! It is time to travel and broaden horizons. Yesterday we learned that there is a beautiful old city named Pskov close to our tiny Luga. And we went there by bus. We received 33 pleasures during that short day. We walked through the territory of an ancient Kremlin and knew the architecture and history of the city of Pskov. Also we swam and rode the water slides at the Water Park and had lunch at 'McDonalds'!
Thank our friends from a distant America! We can travel, learn and relax due to their support!

 The stuff of 'Caritas' from Saint-Petersburg and Volgograd took part in an international, a professional, a honest and a very human conference organized by the charitable organization 'Nochlezhka' in Saint-Petersburg. The topic was 'The Homelessness as a Complex Problem'. The experts from seven cities of Russia, from the Netherlands, Finland and Lithuania spoke about all aspects of homeless people during two days. The conference was necessary to share experiences, discuss and support each other.
The participants of the conference discussed many complex issues. How to help a person with mental disabilities? How to defend the rights of victims of real estate fraud? What is the role of a psychologist accompanying a homeless person? What should the help to chemical dependent people start with? How to organize the rehabilitation of homeless people?
Evgeniya Kolpakova, the head of a charity project 'Resource-information Centre Caritas', spoke from 'Caritas SPb' at the conference. The topic of her report was 'The practice of providing a low-threshold help to chemical dependent people in a situation of homelessness."
Evgeniya told about the peculiarities of work with addicted homeless people, the possibilities of receiving help in SPb, the existing of rehabilitation programs to get rid of alcoholic and drug addiction in the city, the difficulties and "risks" of certain services in the field of addicted people rehabilitation offered in St. Petersburg.
The head of a charity project of 'Caritas SPb' ('Informational Advisory Centre on Violence and Dependent Action'), Radik Galiahmetov participated as expert in a panel discussion 'The alcohol and drug addicted homeless help, the linkage between homelessness and addiction'.

Yay! We have a vacation!
The guys from the children's center 'Little Island' spent all the day in The Bishop Maletsky center of support for young disabled persons.
The friendship between children from the 'Little Island' and the guys from the Bishop Maletsky House is strong and has stood the test of years.
But yesterday the boys from the House was not only friends, they were TEACHERS! The guys conducted the master classes in cooking, drawing and making leather bracelets! The task for teachers was to teach and for learners to learn! And all of them reached the goal!

Galina Fomina, the nurse of program 'The patronage service 'Caritas SPb'', goes to the hospital to participate in the lessons of 'School of Stroke' each Thursday. The relatives of patients who had just suffered a stroke go there. There is an information about the next classes at the 'School of stroke' and services of the patronage service 'Caritas SPb' at the stand of the neurological department.
Galina Fomina helps people to get to their feet. So she helped to 72-year-old man to recover after a stroke.
The nurse showed the patient's relatives how to care for a sufferer using kinesthetic methods. Then family (two sons and grandson) were able to care for the grandfather on their own.
It was nice to hear from relatives on the phone that our ward independently performs all movements in bed, sits down, gets up and walks around the apartment with a walker. His speaking has also improved.

 Mrs. Doris Epple has funded food for the needy inhabitants of our city more than 10 years . And every year she met with the wards arriving in St. Petersburg. This year Mrs. Doris Epple are unable to come to St. Petersburg due to poor health, but she do not forget about the people who are waiting for her to tell about themselves, their problems and to thank Doris for her generosity and care for them.

Luga is 120 km from St.-Petersburg and there aren't foreign volunteers in our Center because of the problems with a long and difficult road on a train! But we've been lucky this year (though for a very short time). Miguel visited our Center! The children immediately became friends with Miguel. They played together, studied and worked on the paintings. The children were interested to know what countries Miguel had visited and how people lived there. Miguel found a way to each child and devoted time to everybody.
