Evgenia Kolpakova,  a manager of projects "Social Assistance" and "Professional Volunteers" took part in the annual Forum of non-profit organizations "Social Petersburg. Development Area" (11 October 2018). She was also a moderator-expert of the section: "The Prospect of an independent assessment of the quality of services in in the context of amendments of the law № 392-FZ of 05.12.2017, entered into force 06.03.2018".
The section was devoted to the prospects of independent evaluation, the unique experience of St. Petersburg in the context of independent evaluation, the procedure and features in social institutions. The section was attended by representatives of government institutions and NGOs . The Forum formed a dialogue in the aspect of evaluation between NGOs and state institutions.

Dear friends, the opening of two exhibitions of the "inhabitants" of our House took place in Herzen library! First of all, that was the first personal exhibition of Ana Fedorova's works, and we congratulate her on such a significant and a joyful event! As well as an exhibition of works by children attending the art Studio of our House took place!

 On September 20, the staff and volunteers of the project with women from the support group opened a new season of meetings with a joint trip to Gatchina. We visited the Priory Palace, learnt a lot about the knights of the order of Malta. We walked through the Gatchina Park enjoying the greenery and the last gentle sunlight. We visited Pokrovskaya Church of Marienburg in the Jaeger settlement, knew its history.
We brought with us a warm experience of a wonderful holiday in a good company.

Nurses of the Health service Caritas constantly improve their knowledge in the field of care for seriously ill people at home. The next training on Kinesthetics for nurses of the Health service was held as part of the joint program "Development of the Health Service of Caritas in Russia" in Omsk from the 17th to the 20th of September 2018. It was attended by nurses from 10 cities of Russia, including nurses from St. Petersburg. Classes were conducted by Eanna Tesing and Gabriela Elik, the trainers at Cinesthetics from Germany. The participants of the event had the opportunity to consolidate the skills of Kinesthetics in practical training, get advice from experienced trainers and share experiences with colleagues.

Creativity is our favorite occupation, especially when you see the result of your work! This month, the guys from "Ostrovok" and the children's center in Luga have met with new types of creativity! Do you know what a soutache is? And our guys know! Natalia teaches us to make bracelets of these flat threads. And Anya teaches us to make these wonderful stands for hot dishes. Also the guys from "Ostrovok" are passionate about playing the guitar. Tonya conducts guitar lessons. And the guys in Luga mastered new techniques of working with paper and collected natural material for future masterpieces. Many thanks to our volunteers who give the children a piece of their hearts and new knowledge and skills!

In the new school year, the activities in our centers are aimed at expanding the horizons of children, helping in the development of the school program and maintaining health. Children in the centers do homework, explore the world around them, are engaged in creativity, have dinner, play, make friends and have fun.

Health service "Caritas-SPb" comes to the aid of those who need care and who provide care.

Training sessions are held not only for relatives of seriously ill people, but also for employees of medical and social services monthly in the center of the Health service. Within the framework of the signed cooperation agreement, training of Junior medical staff of the Nursing Home № 1 was conducted. A training programme for the care of seriously ill patients for Junior medical staff has been developed.

The purpose of the program: to transfer special knowledge and skills in care, to deepen them, to facilitate care, to reduce the associated workload.

In preparation, special attention is paid to preventive care for patients, support for their activity and self-help, as well as communication and cooperation in care. Also, students gain knowledge about how to move seriously ill people (safely for themselves and for the patient), learned about new approaches to the treatment of wounds and bedsores, as well as how to organize the space in the room where a seriously ill person is, how to choose and use technical means of rehabilitation.

"During the cooperation, Caritas St. Petersburg confirmed its highest professional status, activity, readiness to help and competence in the implementation of tasks. An actual training material, well-coordinated and accurate work on the organization of the educational process determined a high degree of implementation of the goals and objectives of staff training. Knowledge and skills acquired by employees during training, give them additional opportunities for counseling and training of relatives and new employees methods of care for bedridden patients, which helps to increase confidence, prevention of professional burnout and brings positive emotions" (from the letter of the Director of "Nursing Home №1", St. Petersburg).

Caritas St. Petersburg volunteer program started on September 15, 2018.
In the photo you can see our future team of professional volunteers.
A year of training, supervision, acquaintance and internships in charity projects Caritas is ahead.
We were welcomed and instructed by the Director of Caritas Natalia Pevtsova  and a spiritual mentor Caritas F. Mariano.
We got acquainted, talked about our experience of both professional and volunteer activities, worked in pairs and shared expectations from this program.
The atmosphere was very warm, joyful and open. Everyone had the opportunity to talk about the most important.
On 16 September, we had a school day. And acquaintance with the children's center "Ostrovok" begins on Monday.
