A group of employees of the  Social Services Center of the Central District continued training on the basics of care for bedridden patients the 12th of December 2018.
The topic of the lesson: "Perception and observation of the patient at home." Observation of the patient is the perception and observation of changes. When caring for the patient, different functions of the body as a whole and their interrelation are always taken into account.

The second lesson of the training cycle on topic "Bedsores. Prevention and Care" was held on December 5, 2018.

The purpose of the lesson: to determine the signs of bedsores and the ability to carry out preventive measures. Skin hygiene, nutrition and changing of body position are important for the prevention of bedsores. Modern anti-bedsore systems and medicines allow lying patient to avoid the development of this disease.

A round table "Emergency, operational assistance to children and adolescents in a crisis situation: the dialogue of government agencies and NGOs" was held as part of the charity project Caritas SPB "Family-oriented support for children in difficult situations in children's centers Caritas SPB" the 28th of November, 2018.

The first international conference on social education and youth volunteering "Young Caritas" was held in Vienna from 21 to 23 November. The conference was attended by 70 representatives from 32 European countries, including Russia (Caritas St. Petersburg and Caritas Moscow). The participants discussed issues of international cooperation, development of youth volunteer movement, social education, training within "Caritas" and "Erasmus +" program. At the end of the conference, the Vienna Declaration was created and signed by representatives of all participating countries. The Declaration describes the vision, mission and goals of "Young Caritas".

A regular session of a training course in home care for immobile patients took place in the center of the Health service of Caritas at 18 Ryabinovaya street. It brought together relatives and volunteers who take care of their wards at home. We talked about the feeding habits and feeding the sick and the elderly.
After a Cup of tea, relatives and volunteers shared their experiences and news, supported each other morally, received advice on social legislation from nurses , as well as guidelines on nutrition and feeding of their wards.

The working trip to Caritas Germany as part of the international project on volunteer activities was realised November 4th to 12th. Eugene Kolpakova, head of the project "Professional Volunteers Caritas" and the project "Social Crisis Assistance", Mariana Oldenborger, volunteer Caritas,  and  Svetlana Murashova, participant of the partner project and head of the day center of volunteers "Hesed Abraham Petersburg", were participants of the delegation. The meeting in Germany brought together participants from 4 countries of Russia, Armenia, Ukraine and Georgia. We visited the cities of Freiburg and Stuttgart, 15 organizations of different social orientation, resource centers, cafes, which successfully carry out social entrepreneurship. We got acquainted with the principles and mechanisms of work with volunteers in these organizations, asked many questions. Our host organizations were open for communication, answered our questions, exchanged materials, shared their experience.

We sincerely thank the organizers of the trip, all the participants with whom we have spent this eventful week. The gained experience will certainly be useful in the work of our organizations and, of course, we have plans to introduce certain forms of work.
